Moscato and its vineyards

White Muscat is an ancient grape native to the eastern Mediterranean. The White Muscat of Canelli is a variant grown in the Moscato d’Asti area characterised by unique colours and flavours.

Our estate lies in a privileged position for growing the White Muscat of Canelli, set in the middle of the landscapes recognised as UNESCO World Heritage. The vineyards stand between the province of Asti (Canelli and Calosso) and the province od Cuneo (Santo Stefano Belbo), in a strip of land that is a hinge between Langa and Monferrato.

Very sunny hilly areas

The grapes are grown in closely planted rows on the very sunny hills to the right of river Tanaro. The terroirs of Langa, facing towards Santo Stefano Belbo, are steep, sometimes roughly steep, and characterised by whitish calcareous marl, whilst those looking towards the Monferrato are softer and characterised by sediments of sandy calcareous conglomerates.

Harvest and workmanship

Harvest is exclusively manual as to keep intact bunches and espexially skins, that contain the terpens responsible for the typical Muscat flavours. The vinification process – pressing, filtering and controlled temperature fermentation (16-18°) – intends to maintain the delicate flavours of this unique grape.
